Data Protection Statement

I take your data protection very seriously.  The applicable data protection rules, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act, also oblige me to handle website users’ data correctly and for a specific purpose. For these reasons I would like to inform you, as a user of this website, about what data is stored and how this data is used.

General information

The processing of your data is carried out on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR (data processing for the performance of a contract and in order to take steps prior to entering into a contract) or Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR (data processing based on the legitimate interests of the controller or of a third party); you have the right to object at any time to this processing of your data, if there are grounds for doing so arising from your particular situation. If you object, I will no longer process your personal data unless I can prove compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise and defence of legal claims. I may also process your data in some cases for the purpose of direct marketing. If you do not wish to receive any marketing, you have the right to object at any time. I will observe this objection for the future. I will no longer process your data for direct marketing purposes if you object to the processing for these purposes. The objection may be made in writing and, if possible, should be addressed to:

Elena Walcher, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 32, 14482 Potsdam.

This data protection statement and the information on data protection relating to the data processing under Articles 13, 14 and 21 of the GDPR may change from time to time. I will publish all changes on this page.

If you have any further questions about the use of your personal data, please contact me by e-mail or by post.

Data collection and processing in connection with access over the Internet

When you visit my website, my provider / web server temporarily stores every access in a log file. The following data is collected and stored until automated deletion:

  • date and time of access;
  • IP address of the computer (anonymised);
  • website from which the access is made;
  • name of the internet provider;
  • name and URL of the accessed file;
  • amount of data transferred;
  • report whether the data retrieval is successful;
  • identification data of the browser and operating system used.

This data is processed for the purpose of enabling the use of the website (to establish connection to the website) and, among other things, for optimising my online presence. The IP address will only be analysed in case of an attack on the network infrastructure or for other data security reasons.

Collection, storage and use of data

I use your personal data for the purposes mentioned above or authorised by law and to the extent necessary to achieve these purposes. Personal data are details of the personal or material circumstances of a natural person. This includes your name, address, telephone or fax numbers, your e-mail address, if this information can be directly or indirectly linked to you personally. I store and process your personal data especially for the following purposes:

  • for the performance of the services you have requested;
  • for the purpose of replying to your queries.

Transfers of personal data to state institutions and authorities are carried out only within the framework of legal regulations or when the transfer is necessary for legal or law enforcement purposes. Any external service provider will receive only the data necessary for them to perform their tasks. Data transmission to other bodies (third parties) will be made only to the extent permitted by law. Beyond that, your data will not be shared with third parties.

Cookies

Many websites use so-called cookies. Cookies do not cause damage to your computer and do not contain viruses.  Cookies are used to make the website more user-friendly and secure. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer and saved by your browser. You can also deactivate / not allow cookies in your browser; however, the functionality of the website may then be limited.

This website uses the following type of cookies: pll_language. This cookie is set by Polylang-Plugin for websites powered by WordPress. The cookie remembers the language code of the last page you viewed and remains stored for one day. This cookie is strictly necessary for the proper functioning of the website (multilingual presentation), so the user’s consent is not required for this cookie.

Google Web Fonts

This website uses Web fonts provided by Google LLC., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, in order to display website fonts consistently. When you access a page, your browser uploads the necessary web fonts in your browser cache to display the texts and fonts correctly. For this purpose, the browser you use must establish connection to Google’s servers. This way Google becomes aware that my website has been accessed via your IP address. Google’s web fonts are used for a consistent and attractive content representation of my online presence. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. (6)(1)(f) of the GDPR. Should your browser not support the Web fonts, a standard typeface of your computer will be used.

Integration of  third party’s services and content

My website may include content, work and services provided by other providers.  These include, for example, maps by Google Maps, YouTube videos, graphics and images of other websites. For the user, in order to be able to access and display these data in the browser, the transmission of the IP address in this case is absolutely essential. The third-party providers therefore receive information on the IP address of the respective user. I have no influence on whether the IP address may be stored. In this case, this operation is used, among other things, for statistical purposes.

Your rights

Right to withdraw consent under Art. 7(3) GDPR:  You have the right at any time with effect for the future to withdraw your consent once given for the processing of personal data. In the event of such withdrawal, I will delete the data concerned without delay, unless further processing may be carried out on the legal basis providing for processing without consent. The withdrawal of the consent shall not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out prior to the withdrawal.

Right of access under Art. 15 GDPR:  You have the right to obtain access to information about personal data which I have processed, the purposes of the processing, the categories of personal data processed, the recipients or categories of recipients to whom your data have been or will be disclosed, the envisaged retention period or the criteria for determining the retention period, the existence of a right to rectification, restriction of processing, erasure of the data, source of your data, objection to processing, complaint to supervisory authorities as well as about your right to be informed of the safeguards provided for in Art. 46 of the GDPR when your data are transferred to third countries.

Right to rectification under Art. 16 GDPR:  You have the right to obtain immediate rectification of inaccurate data concerning you and/or completion of your incomplete data stored by me.

Right to erasure under Art. 17 GDPR: You have the right to request that your personal data be erased if the conditions laid down in Art. 17(1) of the GDPR are met. This right does not apply where the processing is necessary for the fulfilment of a legal obligation, for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression, for reasons of public interest or for the establishment, exercise and defence of legal claims.

Right to restriction of processing under Art. 18 GDPR: You have the right to request restriction of the processing of your personal data as long as the data accuracy contested by you is being verified; if you refuse your data to be erased due to unlawful data processing and request restriction of the processing instead of deletion; if you need your data for the establishment, exercise and defence of legal claims, after I no longer need the data because the purpose had been achieved; or, in the case if you have objected on grounds of your particular situation, until it has been established whether or not my legitimate reasons prevail.

Right to erasure under Art. 19 GDPR: If you have exercised the right to rectification, erasure or restriction of the processing against me, I am obliged to inform all recipients to whom the data concerted have been disclosed of such data rectification, erasure or restriction of the processing, unless this proves impossible or involves a disproportionate effort. I would be glad to inform you of the recipients.

Right to erasure under Art. 20 GDPR: You have the right to receive your personal data that you have provided me in a commonly used and a machine-readable format, or to request transmission to another controller where this is technically feasible for me.

Right to lodge a complaint under Art. 77 GDPR: If you consider that the processing of your personal data infringes the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Security

I put in place appropriate organisational and technical security measures to protect your data against unauthorised third-party access, intentional or even accidental manipulation. The transmission of the website’s data is secured by SSL encryption, so that unauthorised third parties cannot access personal data.
